どうやら私は手紙を待っているようなのだ。
そして、木造アパートの住人であるらしい。
自分個人の郵便受けを覗いてみると
数通の手紙が入っている。
だが、どれも待っていた手紙ではなさそうだ。
共同の、と言うか、大家の郵便受けもあり
申しわけないとは思いながらも蓋を開いてみる。
あふれんばかりの郵便物の山である。
それぞれの宛名を確認しながら
それぞれの住人の郵便受けに振り分ける。
一通だけ、自分の宛名のものが見つかった。
汚れて破れてゴミのような封筒。
下手な手書き文字のうえ、誤字や脱字が多い文章。
どこか大きな総合病院から差し出されたものらしい。
いろいろ書かれてあるが、要するに
「あなたの入院の準備ができたので、早く来なさい」
という内容のようだ。
そう言われてみると
まったく心当たりがないこともない。
そろそろ入院して本格的に治療せねばならない
という漠然とした不安を感じていたのだ。
だが、あれほど心待ちにしていた手紙は
これとは違うような気がする。
どう違うのか他人に説明するのは難しいが
自分自身に説明する必要はなかろう。
そんなことを考えていたら、背後に靴音。
振り返ると、まさに
郵便配達夫がこちらにやって来るところだった。
自作自演。
Unreachable Letter
Apparently I'm waiting for a letter.
And I seem to be a resident of a wooden apartment.
When I look into my personal mailbox,
there are several letters.
However, none of them seemed to be the letters
I was waiting for.
There is also a joint, or landlord's mailbox,
so I'm going to open the lid, thinking I'm sorry.
It is a pile of overflowing mail.
I check each address
and send it to each resident's mailbox.
Only one was found for my address.
An envelope that looks dirty and torn.
It is a sentence that is often poorly written
and misspelled in addition
to poorly written characters.
It seems to have been offered
from a large general hospital somewhere.
There are a lot of things written,
but it's basically like,
"I'm ready for your hospitalization, come early."
Then, somehow I have a feeling.
I was vaguely anxious that
I had to be hospitalized and treated seriously.
But the letter
I've been waiting for so much seems different.
It's hard to explain to others what the difference is,
but I don't need to explain it to myself.
If I was thinking about that, shoe sounds behind.
When I looked back,
the postman was just coming here.
