背の高い洋館の一階、横長のテラス、
ここで人を待っている。
テラスにはもう一人、若い女がいて
やはり人を待っている様子。
もっと人が集まる予定だったが
目論みは見事にはずれ
いたずらに時間ばかり過ぎてゆく。
「九官鳥にもほどがある！」
そんな声がどこか遠くから
間欠的に繰り返し聞こえてくる。
おそらく誤って躾けられた九官鳥の声であろう。
目の前にも別の背の高い洋館がある。
その二階のベランダから
こちらを見下ろす人の姿が見える。
二人いて、一人が男、もう一人が女。
二人が親しそうに話しているところを見ると
二人は実際に親しい関係なのだろう。
「九官鳥にもほどがある！」
うん。
まあ、たしかに。
同じテラスの若い女に声をかけようか？
それとも、このまま帰ってしまおうか？
夕日に染まりながら今更ながら考え始める。

Terrace and Veranda
On the first floor of a tall Western-style building,
on a horizontal terrace,
here I am waiting for people.
There is another young woman on the terrace,
and she seems to be waiting for someone.
More people were supposed to come together,
but the plan was brilliant
and the time passed unnecessarily.
"There is even a mynah bird!"
Such voices are heard intermittently
and repeatedly from a distance.
Probably the voice of
a mysteriously disciplined myna bird.
There is another tall Western-style building
in front of me.
I can see the person looking down
from the veranda on the second floor.
There are two, one man and one woman.
When I see them talking intimately,
they are in fact a close relationship.
"There is even a mynah bird!"
Yup.
Well, sure.
Should I call a young woman on the same terrace?
Or am I going back like this?
I begin to think further now
while dyed by the setting sun.
