お盆になる。
帰省せにゃならぬ。
先祖の墓がある。
墓参りせにゃならぬ。
横断歩道があるから
そこを渡らねばならぬ、みたいに。
たとえ車道にクルマの影も形も見えずとも
横断歩道と信号機あらば
世間の目が気になって
信号を無視してまで渡りにくい。
世間の目なんぞ気にせにゃ良さそなもんだが
この閉ざされた島国では気にせぬわけにもいかぬ。
たとえ良い子のお遊戯とわかっていても
おのが善良で誠実であることを示し続けねばならぬ。
世間の態度とかムードとか付き合いとか
あとあと響いてきて居たたまれなくなる
と、直感してしまうからだ。
だから、言いたい。
「これ見よがしな信号機や墓は建てるな」と。
しかし、それすら咎められるのだ。
おのが善良さと誠実さとを世間に示したいがため。
外国との戦争、もし再び起こらば
やはりまた同様な結果になるのではなかろうか。
