幅広い車道を挟む形で両側に幅狭い歩道があり
その片側の歩道を歩きながら、私は思う。
（クルマなんか、なくなれば良いのに）
そうすれば、ゆったり安心して歩ける。
向こう側にも簡単に渡れる。
排気ガスと騒音をまき散らしながら
車道のクルマの流れは途切れる気配もない。
はるか前方に歩道橋が見える。
あそこまで歩かなければならないようだ。
（歩行者をなんだと思っているんだ？
でかい顔しやがって）
実際、クルマの正面は顔のように見える。
人格らしきものさえ感じられる。
それを彼らは好しと、または悪くもなしと
あるいは気にもせず運転しているに違いない。
ようやく歩道橋の下まで辿り着いた。
しかし、楽しい作業が待っているわけではない。
ペンキの剥げかけた急勾配の階段を
忌々しい気持ちのまま上り始める。
一段ごとに地面が低くなる。
ただし、空の高さに変化は見られない。
歩道橋の真ん中、車道の中央分離帯の真上で
私はクルマの流れを見下ろす。
なかなかの景観だが、不安定で落ち着かない。
急いで反対側の歩道に下り立つ。

これからどこへ行こうか
あらかじめ決めていたわけではないのだ。

Pedestrian Bridge
There are narrow sidewalks
on both sides of a wide driveway,

I started climbing up the steep stairs

The ground becomes lower with each step.
However, there is no change in the height of the sky.
In the middle of the pedestrian bridge,
right above the median strip of the driveway,
I overlook the flow of cars.
It's a pretty landscape, but it's unstable and restless.
I hurry up to the sidewalk on the other side.
