お父さんの書斎には大きな本棚がいくつもあって
たくさんの本が数え切れないほど並んでいる。
どれでも僕が勝手に読んで構わないことになっているんだけど
ただ一冊だけ、僕が読んではいけない本がある。
それは本棚の一番高いところにあって
ナンバーキーが付いた小さな扉の奥に入っている。
「なぜ読んではいけないの？」
「読めば必ず不幸になるからさ」
「どうして？」
「読めばわかる」
お父さんは詳しく教えてくれない。
「そんな本は捨てればいいのに」
「捨てると、もっと不幸になる」
「どうして？」
「読めばわかる」
意地悪なお父さん。
A Book You Shouldn't Read
There are many large bookshelves in my dad's study.
There are countless books lined up.
I'm supposed to read any of them without permission,
There is only one book that I shouldn't read.
It's at the highest point of the bookshelf,
behind a small door with a number key.
"Why should I not read?"
"If you read it, you will definitely be unhappy."
"Why?"
"If you read it, you will understand."
Dad doesn't tell me in detail.
"If it's such a book, you should throw it away."
"If you throw it away, you will be more unhappy."
"Why?"
"If you read it, you will understand."
A mean dad.
