少なくとも薬や化粧品を売る店はある。
なぜなら、その店に彼女が出勤してきたから。
私は、そのフロア全体の売り場主任のような立場。
実際は違うとしても、そのような自覚がある。
私は彼女の方へ顔を向けない状態のまま
背中越しに彼女の位置や言動を意識し続けている。
せっかく久しぶりに再会できたというのに
このような態度をとらねばならない理由がわからない。
ただし、久しぶりと感じるのは今この場であって
あのフロアでは毎日のように会っていた気がする。
そのうち彼女は、昔の印象のままの姿で
私の好みでない別の女性と一緒に快活にお喋りしながら
私の目の前を知らんぷりして横切り
私の視界の外へ出てしまった。
