わたくし、包丁です。
答弁書に沿って答弁させていただきます。
被告でありますところのわたくし、いわゆる文化包丁は
原告でありますところの検察官殿によって今回の凶悪犯罪
強盗致死事件に凶器として加担した、と糾弾されました。
しかしながらわたくし、本来は料理道具です。
なかなか重宝するという評判の日用品であります。
凶器となる可能性はあったにせよ、日々の食事を用意するのに
必要不可欠な存在であると常日頃より自負しております。
たまたま今回の事件おいて凶器として使われてしまいましたが
当然ながら、これはわたくしの本意ではありません。
わたくしを不当に扱い、強制的に使用した加害者の独断です。
わたくしに抵抗の
現場にわたくしがいたから殺害が成立した、というのが
原告の主張でありますが、これにはまったく承服しかねます。
わたくしは常に現場にいなければならなかったのです。
もしわたくしが台所に待機しておらねば、殺害された被害者は
日々の暮らしに大変な支障をきたしていたはずです。
つまり、わたくしが台所の包丁差しに置かれてあったのは
被害者本人の自由意思による決断の結果なのであります。
わたくしの存在自体にいくらか悪しき要素があるとしても
それを含め、わたくしは必要とされていたのです。
いわゆる「必要悪」なのであります。
理想的な現実ではなく、現実的な理想と申しますか
妥協と協調による必然的な産物なのであります。
皆さん、理想という名の夢を法廷で見ないでください。
どうか不具合だらけの現実を
わたくしもその被害者のひとりなのです。
よって、被告でありますところのわたくしの無罪を
わたくし包丁は断固として主張いたします。

Defendant Kitchen Knife
I am a kitchen knife.
I will answer according to the written answer.
I, the defendant, the so-called cultural kitchen knife,
was denounced by the plaintiff, the public prosecutor,
for having taken part in this heinous crime resulting
in death by robbery as a murder weapon.
However, I am originally a cooking tool.
I am a daily necessities
with a reputation for being quite useful.
Even though I could have been a lethal weapon,
I always take pride in the fact that I am
an indispensable presence in preparing my daily meals.
I happened to be used
as a murder weapon in this incident,
but of course, this was not my intention.
It is the arbitrary decision of the perpetrator
who treated me unfairly and used me forcibly.
I had no way of resisting.
The plaintiff's allegation is that the murder was established
because I was at the scene, but I cannot accept this at all.
I always had to be there.
If I hadn't been waiting in the kitchen,
the murdered victim would have had a great deal
of trouble in their daily lives.
In other words,
the fact that I was placed in the knife holder
in the kitchen was the result of the victim's own free will.
Even if there were some bad elements
in my very existence, I was needed, including that.
It is a so-called "necessary evil."
It is not an ideal reality, but a realistic ideal,
the inevitable product of compromise and cooperation.
Ladies and gentlemen,
please don't see the dream called ideal in court.
Please look seriously at the reality full of defects.
I am one of those victims.
Therefore, as the defendant,
I will firmly assert my innocence.
