なぜなら、その証拠または解説のように
コンビニにあるような雑貨がコンビニ風に陳列されている。
そして、僕はこの店のアルバイト店員であるらしい。
そんな服装をしているし、そんな気分である。
ただし、店内を見渡してもお客の姿はない。
お客がいなければ店の雑誌を立ち読みしても構わない。
それどころか、店のお菓子を食べても構わない。
実際、僕はこうして店のお菓子を食べながら
店の週刊漫画雑誌を立ち読みしている。
監視体制がしっかりしていて給料から天引きされるのか。
それとも、あらかじめ織り込み済みの安い給料なのか。
いかなるシステムになっているのかよくわからないが
とにかくそういう取り決めになっている。
不意打ちのように店の経営者が現れた。
僕のこのコンビニ店員にあるまじき所業を見ても
あわてず騒がず見て見ぬふりをする。
または、見てしまったが、見た内容は特別なことではない
という判断に基づく素振りをさりげなく演じる。
いかにも自然に振る舞っているようではあるが
どうも実感として不自然に映る。
なんにせよ、ご苦労なことである。
こんなので利益を出せるのだろうか。
あるいは何か、たとえば人間の行動や心理に関する
学術的な観察データを集めているのだろうか。

Convenience Store Too
