村に事件が起こったらしい。
それも犯罪と呼べるほどのもの。
それが泥棒並みのつまみ食いなのか
殺人事件なのか、今のところ定かでない。
はっきりした記憶もないのだが
どうやらその犯人が自分のようなのだ。
いずれにせよ、どこにも証拠はない。
自分が黙っておれば迷宮入りになるはずだ。
村では有志による自警団というか
犯人探し組のようなものが結成されたようだ。
おばさんたちが自分のところにも調査に来た。
村人全員の履物を調べている、という。
サンダルを履いていたが、それを手渡す。
なにやら柿を踏んだような汚れがついていた。
「この鍵は私の自転車のと一緒だわ」
自転車の盗難防止用の鍵の話が出てドキリとする。
サンダルの靴底にそれを踏んだ跡でも残っていたか。
だとしたら、安心している場合ではない。
もし村八分にされたら、どうしよう。
やがて村に居たたまれないほど不安になる。

It seems that an incident happened in the village.
