そこは中華料理店または異国風なゲームセンター。
卓上の器に黒水晶のような珠が盛られてある。
それをすくってタピオカのように口に含む。
だが、味はよくわからない。
その珠を転がして遊べそうな迷路が近くにあった。
竜をあしらった精緻なデザイン。
いくつか珠をつまんで転がして遊ぶ。
それからしばらくしてテーブルに戻った。
珠が減っているのが問題になるような気がして
隣のテーブルの別の器からいくつか移す。
ところが、黒い珠の数がやはり問題となった。
「あなた、いくつ食べたか？」と支配人に問われ
「正直、いくつ食べたかわかりません」と答える。
それから奥の厨房で長い協議が始まった。
消費した珠を支払えるか不安になってきた。
さらに詰問された場合に備えて
「少なくて五つ、多くても十個くらい」
そう返事しよう、と決めた自分が今ここにいる。

Black Beads
There is a Chinese restaurant or an exotic arcade.
Beads like black crystals are piled up on the tabletop.
I scoop them up and put them in my mouth like tapioca.
However, I don't really understand the taste.
There was a maze nearby
where I could roll the beads and play.
It is an elaborate design with a dragon.
I pick up some beads and roll them to play.
After a while, I returned to the table.
I feel that the loss of beads is a problem,
so I move some from another bowl on the next table.
However,
the number of black beads still became a problem.
The manager asked, "How many did you eat?"
"Honestly, I don't know how many I ate," I replied.
Then a long discussion began in the kitchen at the back.
I'm worried if I can pay for the beads I've consumed.
In case of further questions
"At least five, at most ten."
I'm here now, deciding to reply.
