友人と一緒に人通りの多い道を歩いている。
駅の地下通路みたいな印象がないこともない。
前方に見覚えある女の後姿が見える。
元同級生であったか。
彼女も友人と一緒らしい。なぜなら
隣の女の後姿にも見覚えある気がする。
「さっきのは知ってる女の子だったかな」
彼女たちを追い越してから友人に話す。
「共通の知人だったかもしれない」
「誰だったの？」
素朴に問われても即答できない。
一般に女の子は変わるものだから。
そんなことを考えていたら
交差点みたいな場所で土木工事が行われている。
昇降しながら移動するクレーンに囲まれてしまった。
「ここを通り過ぎたいのですけど････」
重機を運転中の作業員に尋ねてみる。
「さてね。通り過ぎたいなら、そのまま････」
そのままうやむやになってしまった。
