ただし、牛丼を食べた記憶はない。
ともかく店を出るために会計を済ませようと
レジ前の店員に千円札を差し出す。
考えてみれば、この札の肖像画が誰か
その印象すら残っていない。
店員の男からレシートともクーポン券とも
なんとも呼べないものを手渡される。
おつりはない。
それで「おつりは？」と尋ねる。
すると、なにやら聞き取りにくい返事をされ
理解できないため、去るに去れない。
たかだか何百何十円のおつりではあるが
もし手違いとすれば、みすみす損をしたくない。
しかしながら、滞っては営業妨害で迷惑になる。
続いて会計を待つ客の目も気にかかる。
この国における行動規範のようなものが
知らないうちに変わってしまったのだろうか。
どうにも割り切れない気分。
