そろそろ洗濯をせにゃならんが
天気が悪いのを理由にまだやってない。
曇り空の窓の外、今にも雨が降りそうだ。
干して濡れたら干す意味がない。
そうこうするうち、兄の具合が悪くなった。
寝たまま母親に病状を説明している。
「近頃はこのようになるのです」
ラップの透明シートの上に兄が涙を垂らすと
それがアルミニウムの粉末のような銀色になる。
なるほど、失明するかもしれないな、と思う。
ただし、自分より先に悪くなるのは変な気がする。
まだ母親が存命というのも、変な話だが。

Lost Blood Streaks
I have to do the laundry soon,
