最初は俳句を詠み合う句会なんぞやっていた。
ところが、寝たり起きたりしているうちに
排水管清掃だか修繕工事だかに置き換わっていた。
前後関係や全体像をつかめぬまま
所在なく椅子に座り、ぼんやりしている。
集合住宅の部屋の中にいるはずなのに
作業員や住民が裏庭を右往左往する姿が見える。
なぜか窓枠からサッシ窓が取っ払われているのだ。
制服を着た作業員の体形に見覚えがある。
同い年なのに先輩で上司だった男に似ている。
そいつが振り返る動作と同調するように
さり気なく目を閉じつつ薄目になる。
やはり彼であった。
こちらを見て薄笑いする知人の顔が見える。
まあ、わからぬでもない。
こんなに大勢の人が外で作業しているのに
知らんぷりして内なる世界に浸っているわけだからな。

Inner World
