体操着姿の女子生徒が集まってきた。
身体検査かと思ったら、平均台を運べと言う。
年齢は大人なくせに体は子どものままの男どもが
次々と入場する女子の間を縫うようにして
嬉々としてその運搬作業に従事する。
私も平均台を運んでいたようだが、今は
その上に載って運ばれている。
すぐに落ちそうで、どっこい落ちない。
いつまでこうして載っていられるのか
ときおり不安がよぎる。
なかなか世の中、平均は保たれないものだから。

Balance Beam

among the girls who enter one after another,

I also seemed to have carried a balance beam,
but now they are carrying me on it.

Sometimes I feel insecure
how long I can stay on this way.
In the world, balance is hard to keep.
