たくさんの書架にたくさんの本。
本の返却のため、図書館に来ている。
ふと、疑問を感じる。
美術ジャンルの本の配置がおかしい。
西洋画家全集の一部なのに２冊しかない。
それも大きな本と本の間に隠れている。
その時、女性職員の声がした。
「あるはずの本が見当たらないのだけれど」
「これではないでしょうか？」
私は隠れた２冊の本を指摘する。
「いいえ。これはここでいいのです」
司書であろう彼女が断言するのだから
おそらくこれはこれでいいのだろう。
やはり素人考えは甘いようだ。
