濡れた靴下を脱ぎ捨てて
波に揺れる夕暮れの海面を
ひたひたと裸足で歩いていたら
まるで霧に包まれたように
無数の蝶の群に囲まれてしまった。
こんな遥か沖合まで
あたりまえのような顔をして
歩いてきたりしてはいけなかったのだ。
途中で沈むとか溺れるとか
せめて泳いでみるとか
そういうことをすべきだったのだ。
まあ、いまさら遅いけど。
それにしても
こんなふうに蝶の群に歓迎されたら
そんなに悪い気はしない。
このまま夜になってしまえば
きっと蝶の群は蛾の群となるだろう。
やがて水平線から朝日が昇れば
びっしりと海面に敷き詰められた
美しく眩い銀色の絨毯になるはずだ。
そんな優雅な絨毯の上で
ゆらゆら波に揺られてのんびりと
いつまでも眠っていられたら
ちょっと素敵な気がする。

Offshore of Butterflies
As I took off the wet socks
and walked lightly with the bare feet
of the dusky sea surface swaying in the waves,
like a fog filled with countless butterfly groups surrounded me.
I should not have walked
to such a far away offshore with a natural face.
I should have done something like sinking,
drowning, swimming at least, or something like that.
Well, it's late for now.
Even so,
if I am welcomed to a group of butterflies
like this in this way I do not feel so bad.
If it is night as it is,
surely the group of butterflies will be a group of moths.
If the sun rises from the horizon soon,
it should be a beautifully dazzling silver carpet
packed tightly on the surface of the sea.
I feel a little nice if I can fall asleep leisurely
after being shaken by the waves
on such an elegant carpet.
