げろげろ吐き気がしてくる。
それでも、いつしか階段は終わる。
そこにある扉を開く。
塔の最上階、光がまぷしい。
ベランダから眺める村の風景。
山と森と川、風車と牧場と教会。
おどおど見下ろせば
ぐらぐらめまいする。
高さより怖いものが見えてくる。
すぐ真下の地面に死体がある。
異様な形につぶれている。
それは私の死体に違いない。
なぜなら今、思い出したから。
ここから私は落ちたのだ。
閉めたぱかりの扉を開ける。
らせん階段は消えている。
そこは広く長い橋の上。
ぺたぺた欄干に近寄り、
ふらふら川面を見下ろす。
それが川面なら、これは川だ。
こんな大きな川は知らない。
なにかが川下へ流れてゆく。
死体だ。
しかも私の死体。
ぶくぶく膨らんだ腹を
ぷかぷか浮かべてる。
この橋から私は身を投げたのだ。
そうだ、そうだ、そうだった。
あわてて棚干から離れる私。
よろよろ足がよろけて
ころころ転びそうになる。
足もとに誰かが倒れていたから。
これも死体だ。
これも私。
私は馬車にひかれたのだ。
そうそう、あれは死ぬほど痛かった。
いけない、いけない。
こんな場所から逃げなければ。
けれど、すでに橋は
ぐにゃぐにゃ曲がりながら
ぐにょぐにょらせんを描き始める。
