山頂の城跡で笛を吹いていたら
山の神が姿を現した。
「なかなか良き音じゃ」
なんだか昔話みたいだな、と思った。
「フルートという名の異国の横笛です」
「もっと吹いてくれぬか」
私は喜んで吹き続けた。
山の神も喜んで聴き続けてくれた。
「おかげで、楽しかったぞ」
「ありがとうございます」
「お礼に、わしの笛をやろう」
別れ際に、山の神は竹笛をくれた。
私は恐縮しながら受け取った。
吹いてみると、なかなか素敵な音がする。
そして、たくさんの野鳥が集まってきた。
リスやウサギやタヌキまで。
どうやら寄せ笛らしい。
そりゃ、もちろん
嬉しいには嬉しいんだけど
ヘビやトカゲや虫けらどもまで
ウジャウジャ集まるのには
少々まいった。

Mountain God Flute
When I was playing a flute at the castle ruins of the summit,
the mountain god appeared.
"It's a pretty good sound."
I thought it sounds like an old story.
"It is a flute of a foreign country named a flute."
"Will you blow more?"
I continued to blow pleased.
The mountain god gladly continued listening.
"Thanks, I enjoyed myself."
"Thank you."
"Thank you, I will give you a flute of me."
When I broke up,
the mountain gods gave me a bamboo flute.
I received it with excuse.
When I blow it, it sounds pretty nice.
And a lot of wild birds have gathered.
To squirrels, rabbits and raccoons.
Apparently it seems to be asked whistle.
Well, of course, I'm happy to be happy,
but I got a bit of trouble
to gather a lot of snakes, lizards and insects.
