豚の武士

往来を歩いていると　
刀の鞘(さや)を足蹴にされた。

「無礼者！」と斬り捨てようとしたら　
武士の魂たる刀がなかった。

鞘の中身は竹光（たけみつ）である。

魂なき入れ物だけ飾っておれば　
侮辱されるは武士として当然の報い。

そもそも斬り捨てようがない。

食うに困って質に入れ　
そのまま流してしまったのだな。

これでは武士とも呼べないか。

武士は食わねど高楊枝。　
武士が食ったら豚になる。

Pig Samurai

As I was walking down the street,
someone kicked the scabbard of my sword.

When I tried to slash it away,
I didn't have the sword, which is the soul of a samurai.

Inside the scabbard is an imitation bamboo sword.

being insulted is a natural reward for being a samurai.
