梅雨の長雨が続いて、今年は冷夏か。
と思ったら一転、記録的な猛暑の夏となった。
ところが、お盆過ぎから台風の影響か、豪雨となり
ついに避難勧告、さらに特別警報が発令された。
我が家は高台に建つが、一夜明けて見下ろすと
住み慣れた町の様子がすっかり変わっていた。
この高台に建つほんの数軒の家を残して
どうやら町全体が大水に流されてしまったらしい。
眼下には隣町なのか、さらにまたその隣町なのか
とにかく見慣れぬ町並みが広がっていた。
変わったのは建物や道路だけではない。
町内会の決め事やゴミの出し方なども
新しい町のルールに従わねばならなくなった。
どうも勝手が違う。
やりにくいったらありゃしない。
老妻が嘆く。
「ここも一緒に流されたらよかったのにね」
「馬鹿なこと言うな！」
わしは老妻を叱る。
しかしながら、じつは内心
同じことを考えていた己自身を叱ったのである。
Flowing Town
The rainy season continues for a long time,

I scold her.
