なんとか就職したものの、じつはそれには裏があって
知らないうちに悪者にされていたようなのだ。
この会社にこのまま在籍していたら、犯罪者になるか
最悪の場合、殺されてしまうかもしれない。
そんな不安があるから強引に早退して
その会社を紹介してくれた人物に会いに行く。
ちょうど彼は出かけるところだった。
いきさつを説明すると、彼は助言をしてくれた。
「円満退社のためには決定的な証拠がいるな」
それで僕は町まで決定的証拠を探しに行く。
見知らぬ人家の庭にまで踏み込むと
白い彫像が地中に半分以上も埋まっていた。
どうなっているのだ、とよく見れば
その彫像の人体がムクリと動いた。
ドキリとしたので逃げようとすると
この家の主の姿が現れ、現象を説明してくれる。
「ああして石灰岩を地面に埋めて
土を掘りながら芸術品を彫るのですよ」
（いやしかし、彫像が動いたではないか？）
それをそのまま伝えてよいものか、しばし迷う。
削った石灰の粉を浴びた制作者が白くなっただけ。
または、ちょっとした目の錯覚だったのかも。
それとも、決定的な証拠隠滅の最中なのか。
自作自演。
Definitive Proof
I managed to get a job, but it seems that
there was something wrong with it,
and I was unknowingly becoming a bad guy.
If I stayed with this company,
I could be a criminal or,
in the worst case, killed.
Because of such anxiety,
I forcibly leave early and go to see the person
who introduced the company.
He was about to go out.
When I explained to him what happened,
he gave me some advice.
"You need definitive proof for a good retirement."
So I go to town looking for definitive proof.
When I stepped
into the garden of a stranger's house,
more than half of the white statues
were buried in the ground.
When I looked closely at what was going on,
the human body of the statue moved a little.
I was so surprised that when I tried to escape,
the owner of this house appeared
and explained the phenomenon.
"Oh, the sculptor buries limestone in the ground
and digs the soil to carve works of art."
(No, but the statue didn't move?)
I'm wondering if I can just tell him that.
The creator who was exposed
to the scraped lime powder just turned white.
Or maybe it was a bit of an optical illusion.
Or is it
in the midst of definitive eradication of evidence?
