小学校の校舎と同じ構造の大きな建物。
すっかり夜になっている。
二階から立ち去ろうとして、端にある
教室と思われる部屋の中が明るいのに気づく。
まさか、こんな夜更けに誰か使っているのか。
戸口から中を覗いてみる。
誰もいない。照明もない。
窓の月明かりのせいだろうか。
それとも、目が闇に慣れたせいだろうか。
納得しかねるものの、階段を下りる。
一階の廊下を進むと、片側の部屋に人の気配。
中に入ると、同級生やら同僚やらがいる。
グループごとに打ち合わせ中だったり
ゲームに興じていたり、てんでバラバラ。
さて、どこかのグループに入らなければならない。
いくつか誘われるが、決めかねる。
どこにも属せず超然としていられないものか。

Night Meeting
A large building with the same structure
as an elementary school building.
It's completely night.
As I try to leave the second floor,
I notice that the room at the end,
which seems to be a classroom, is bright.
Is anyone using it late at night?
I look inside from the doorway.
Nobody is here. There is no lighting.
Is it because of the moonlight in the window?
Or is it because my eyes have become accustomed
to the darkness?
I'm not convinced, but I go down the stairs.
As I walked down the hallway on the first floor,
there was a sign of people
in the room on one side.
When I get inside,
there are my classmates and colleagues.
They are having meetings with each group,
playing games, and doing it on their own.
Well, I have to join some group.
I'm invited to some, but I can't decide.
Can I not belong anywhere and stay aloof?
