古書店がおもな舞台の物語である。
そんな小説を読みながら寝ていたせいか
主人公と同じように店番をしている。
なにやら込み入った事件が発生したようである。
なのに、すぐ隣で客とボウリングをしている。
ボウリングのレーンのある古書店なのだろう。
まあいい。私が投げる番だ。
並んで３本残ったピンの右端と
西洋甲冑みたいなものの左端の間を狙う。
そこを狙えば左右どちらも倒せると踏んだ。
ところが、あいにく投げたボールは
本当に両者の間を素通りして、１本も倒れない。
最悪の結果だ。
狙い過ぎたな、と後悔しきり。

I planned to defeat both left and right if I aimed at that.

between the two and no one falls.

I regret that I was aiming too much.
