丈夫そうな大きな箱が捨てられてあった。
革ベルトで十字に結束されてある。
それを拾って、家の中まで運ぶ。
さて開けようか、と手を伸ばしたところ
指先に冷たい水滴が当たるのを感じた。
見上げると、天井の一部が濡れている。
あわてて部屋を飛び出し、階段の途中で叫んだ。
「二階から水漏れしてるよ！」
しばらくして返事があった。
「どのあたり？」
母の寝ぼけた声である。
階段を上がり、二階の部屋に入る。
水漏れのあった位置にコタツがあった。
母は起きているが、兄はコタツで寝ている。
なぜかコタツは壁に接していて
その付近の壁はしずくが垂れて変色している。
すぐ上には障子戸の窓があり、やはり濡れている。
引き開けてみれば外、雪が降っている。
手前の小屋根に雪が積もり、妙な形に伸びて
障子戸の近く、しずくを垂らしている。
「だめだよ。こうして雪と窓との間隔を
しっかりと離しておかなくちゃ」
そう忠告しながら、手で雪をかく。
「でもそういうことをすると、逆に
雪が水になりやすいって言うけど････」
まだ寝ぼけているらしい。
「だって、実際に水になっているんだから
こうでもするしかないんだよ」
「ん････どうした？」
ようやく兄が目を覚ましたようである。
だが、ちょっと待てよ。
この部屋は父と母の寝室ではなかったか。

Water Leak
A big box that looked strong was thrown away.
It is tied in a cross with a leather belt.
I pick it up and carry it inside the house.
When I reached out to open it,
I felt a cold drop of water hitting my fingertips.
Looking up, a part of the ceiling is wet.
I hurried out of the room
and shouted in the middle of the stairs.
"Water is leaking from the second floor!"
After a while, I got the reply.
"Which area?"
My mother's drowsy voice.
I go up the stairs
and enter the room on the second floor.
There was a kotatsu at the position
where the water leaked.
My mother is awake,
but my brother is sleeping in a kotatsu.
For some reason,
the kotatsu is in contact with the wall,
and the wall near it is discolored with dripping drops.
There is a shoji door window just above,
and it is still wet.
When I open it up, it's snowing outside.
Snow is piled up on the small roof in the foreground,
and it grows in a strange shape
and drips near the shoji door.
"No good. In this way, the distance between
the snow and the window must be kept close."
While advising that, I scratch the snow by hand.
"But if you do that,
it's easy for snow to turn into water..."
She seems to be still asleep.
"Because it's actually water,
I have no choice but to do this."
"Hmm... what's wrong?"
It seems that my brother has finally awakened.
But wait a minute.
Wasn't this room
the bedroom of my father and mother?
