流通用の商標名。正式名称はアホロートル。
和名はメキシコサラマンダー。
メキシコ原産のサンショウウオの仲間。
原種は絶滅危惧種としてワシントン条約により輸出禁止。
流通しているものは人工的に繁殖させたブリード個体である。
両生類でありながら幼体のまま成熟する。
エラでも肺でも呼吸できるためか、非常に寿命が長い。
夏場の高水温対策が必要な点以外は金魚飼育とほとんど一緒。
視力が弱く、複数の個体を一緒に飼育するのは避けたい。

「おまえ、こいつを飼わねえか」
ある平日の夜遅く、ウーパールーパーを持って
会社のおいちゃんがアパートにやってきた。
フタが取っ手になってるビン詰め容器。
たった今、ゲーセンのUFOキャッチャーで取ってきたんだと。
生き物で遊ぶとはいかがなものか、と思ったが
金魚すくいをした過去ある身では文句も言えない。
じつは、すでに飼ってるハムスターで手一杯だが
おいちゃんに弱みを握られている手前、断れない。
喜んだような顔をしながら、いやいや受け取る。
かつてメダカの飼育に使っていた漬物用のガラス瓶に
容器内の水ごとウーパールーパーを移す。
それにしても、あの次々と減っていったメダカたちは
いったいどこへ消えてしまったのだろう。
そんなことをぼんやり考えながら
ウーパールーパーの顔をまじまじと見つめる。
なるほど、かわいらしくないこともない。
赤ん坊のような表情をする。
ただし見た目は、足の生えたオタマジャクシ。
違和感がある。ブキミだ。気持ち悪い。
そう。まるで人面魚みたいだ。
首から下がおいちゃんみたいな体の
美少年とか美少女は絶対に想像したくないものな。
スマホで調べてみたら、食用にもなるらしい。
唐揚げや姿焼きの画像まであったが、やめて欲しい。
吐き気がする。ほとんど悪趣味だ。
しかし、さて、どうしたものか。
殺すのは、気分として殺人に近い。
十年くらい長生きするそうだが、それも困る。
なんだかんだ、いつまでたっても悩ましい

Wooper-Looper Night
[ Wooper-looper ]
Trademark name for distribution. The official name is Axolotl.
The Japanese name is Mexican Salamander.
A fellow of salamanders native to Mexico.
The original species is prohibited to be exported
by the Washington Treaty as an endangered species.
Those that are distributed are artificially breeded individuals.
They are amphibians but mature as young bodies.
They can breathe in both gills and lungs,
so they have a very long life.
They are mostly together with goldfish breeding except
that it requires summer high water temperature measures.
They have poor eyesight
and do not want to keep multiple individuals together.

Late at night on a weekday,
an old man from the company came to the apartment
with a wooper-looper.
A bottle packing container whose lid is a handle.
Right now he seems to have taken it
at the UFO catcher of the game center.
I thought how fun to play with living things,
but I can not complain
because I have played goldfish scooping past.
Actually, I have plenty of hamsters I already have,
but I can not refuse myself before he has weakness.
While looking delightfully, I will receive it reluctantly.
Transfer the wooper-looper together with the water
in the container into a glass bottle for pickles
which was once used for breeding Japanese rice fish.
Anyway, I wonder where the Japanese rice fish,
which declined one after another, disappeared.
While slowly thinking about such things,
I stare at the face of the wooper-looper.
Indeed, nothing is not pretty.
It looks like a baby.
However, it looks like a tadpole with legs growing.
